  • Overview

    The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Construction Manager to be based at our Corporate Office in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Our Construction Managers are responsible for project development and management of new store projects as well as open store construction remodel projects that he/she is assigned to across the company footprint.  Our Construction Department believes that attention to detail and driving high quality projects, sets us apart from the rest.

    Responsibilities

    • Development and management of full construction schedule, phasing plan and project budget which must be updated frequently throughout the project
    • Construction plans and specifications review
    • Establish and execute project bid process
    • Creation of project contracts various scopes of work
    • General construction management and oversight including coordination of GC activities and refrigeration contractor activities ensuring high quality deliverables
    • Lead weekly/bi-weekly construction progress meetings onsite. 
    • Close coordination and effective communication with landlords, project consultants and TFM internal development/architectural team
    • Coordinate with TFM purchasing team to ensure all equipment and fixtures are ordered and arrive on-time for installation
    • Total construction closeout, invoice reconciliation
    • Project based communications both external and internal communications with store operations team
    • Document management
    • Excellent multi-tasking, communication, and organizational skills are required to effectively manage varying scopes of concurrent projects across the company

     

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Construction, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Construction Administration, or other related discipline is required
    • Minimum of four years of relevant experience as a Construction Manager or Owner’s construction representative is required
    • Grocery construction experience will be considered a plus
    • An understanding  and expertise on general construction trades, health regulations, government guidelines, OSHA, and all safety guidelines
    • Proven ability to read and understand all construction drawings across all trades.
    • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, multi-tasking skills, time management skills, and leadership skills are required
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, & MS Project is required
    • Familiarity with Auto-Cad would be a plus
    • The ability to travel up to 60% of the time is required
    • Some night work will be required
